Several well-established institutions overseas provide models for what is possible in Australia. Potentially they could serve as links and partners for a tertiary institution in this country based on the educational and social principles developed by Rudolf Steiner. These are Alanus University for the Arts and Social Sciences in Germany and Heliopolis University in Egypt.

Alanus University for the Arts and Social Sciences
Alanus University was founded in 1973 and has established accredited degree courses since 2003; today it offers BA, Masters and PhD level courses in a number of disciplines including fine and performing arts, architecture, art therapy, education (including Steiner teaching training), business and philosophy. It is a state-accredited private university located near Bonn, Germany.
On the home page of its website it states: "The educational concept of Alanus University focuses on the person as a whole. We thus embrace the humanistic ideals of Schiller and Humboldt while also following Rudolf Steiner’s anthroposophical idea of “educating the whole human being”. This education of the whole human being is developed through interdisciplinary programs and in particular though the general studies program (Studium Generale) which is participated in by students from all faculties. The general studies program integrates philosophical, artistic and social explorations and "includes the opportunity to examine, analyse and deconstruct the teachings of Rudolf Steiner in a contemporary and discourse-focused way".
In terms of the threefold social order, the economic and cultural spheres are the focus of this university. In the degree courses Social Entrepreneurship and Business Administration (Shaping a Sustainable Economy) Steiner's ideas on economics gain a voice in relation to progressive approaches to harmonising and renewing economic life. In the other degree programs - from Curative Education, to Eurythmy Therapy, to Fine Arts and Architecture, to Waldorf (Steiner) Education - Steiner's indications regarding the cultural-spiritual spheres of society are presented in a contemporary light.
